When you build a building, you need less wood then other raw mat. But you will need more wood to recruit soldiers.

you can sell it always, propably you dont make big profit, but you can get a little bit more materials for building up village.

I am using Market very well i think. Every day i am butting all my ressource what i need to the market. Prices are usually 1wood=1,25stone or ore, 1stone=2ore and 1ore=2stone. Sometimes i change my prices, it depends on market situation.
I think thats very good way how to make resources on the market.
