IS there an overall point to Kingsage?

I have read the stuf around Kingsage and can't work out what the aiim of the game is and will it just run perpetually? I think the longer you play with more settlements the harder it will get to manage various sites.

Personally, I think I will play until it is no longer inspiring and then take all my armies on a rampage of utter destruction.
